Ask any fashion expert -- a good wardrobe is built around classic, quality basics. Good basics make the perfect base for your statement shoe or bag but can also be styled as is for the perfect off duty look.

I've always been attracted to basics more than any other article of clothing. There's just something about a clean black t shirt that fits as if it's been tailored specifically for you. To me, nothing screams cool girl more than looking chic as fuck in nothing but a black cashmere sweater and vintage denim jeans. Now that I'm getting older and working full time, I'm making an extra effort to somewhat 'invest' in quality basics. Even though I haven't splurged on a $1000 silk button down yet, I've started to pick up some well-fitting pieces to add to my wardrobe.

A perfectly cropped white t-shirt was on the top of my list as well as a new pair of black denim, vintage fitting shorts. To be honest, I wanted this RE/DONE x Hanes tee more than anything ever and was about to purchase until I found this $25 option at & other stories. It fits me like a glove. When it came to looking for shorts, though, I must have tried on 25 pairs. Everywhere from Reformation, The Vintage Twin, and my local thrift stores. All I wanted was someone's old, broken in Levi shorts. I was about to give up when I stumbled on Topshop's epic short wall in their Soho store. I found these Ashley shorts and after going down 3 sizes, I got them to fit exactly how I wanted.

This is going to be my go-to outfit all summer long. With the addition of fun sandals, bold earrings and cool sunnies, it's an easy outfit formula to keep these basics looking fresh.
